Intention is Everything

Intention is everything.

January, 2017, I went to a bookstore in Asheville, North Carolina. I looked at the travel section and said “I will write a book, and it will belong there.” It was published in October that year.

In 2018, I said “I want to be known as a road trip expert.” In January, 2019, I spoke about road trips at the San Diego Travel & Adventure Show, and on Tuesday I’ll be speaking on the same topic at the Chicago Auto Show.

Last summer, I acknowledged that I love mentoring and I want to teach others what I’ve learned. This June, I’m mentoring at #BloghouseScottsdale.

In December, I wrote in my journal that I wanted to have two book signings/appearances a month this year. In January, I had three. In February, I’ll have two. This week, I’ll start reaching out for March.

This is not to boast or brag. It’s to encourage. Speak your desire. Own it. Believe it. Then do the work.

It may not happen. There are things I’ve articulated that haven’t come to pass. But, many have. And in the meantime, I’ve pictured those dreams in 3-D, and they’ve taken shape before my eyes.

Am I scared? HELL. YES. I give myself pep talks every single morning and multiple times throughout the day because if I don’t I’ll spend all my time freaking out, clicking refresh on Outlook and Google Analytics and my affiliate accounts and my Amazon author page and my printer’s sales reports. (I still do all of that more often than is probably healthy…)

What’s your dream? Picture it. Write it. SAY IT. Tell it to yourself over and over and then do what you need to do to make it happen.

Live your life, live your dreams with intention, and it will be a life you love.
